Doole was a well-liked British drama executive who held some of the most important positions in UK production. She was also known for her kindness and ease of work. After receiving a scholarship to Cambridge University, she joined Yorkshire Television as a program researcher.

She started her ascent at BBC Worldwide (now BBC Studios) and played a key role in negotiations with companies like See-Saw Films, the producer of King’s Speech and Top of the Lake.

“Those who had the pleasure of working with Sarah will know that she was a true creative and a driving force,” stated Jennifer Mullin, CEO of Fremantle Group. Her enthusiasm and passion had no bounds. She was a terrific leader who contributed to building the solid foundations of our Global Drama Company. Right now, our thoughts are with her friends and family.

“Since her death, tributes have poured in from across the globe and I am overwhelmed by the number of people within the industry who have remarked on how she supported them and lifted them in their careers,” Anton TV chief Sangeeta Desai told Broadcast Magazine.

In 2013, she relocated to Fremantle to take up the role of Creative Director for Global Drama, and she was shortly promoted. She solidified her reputation as a talent scout throughout her stay, working on major European successes including Deutschland 83, My Brilliant Friend, and The Young Pope.

In 2020, Doole resigned from her position at Fremantle and started a talent incubator called Sow the Seed. After Nicola Shindler left, she took over as head of Studiocanal-backed It’s a Sin, an independent record label. She produced episodes for ITV’s No Return and Netflix’s Stay Close, an adaptation of Harlan Coben’s work.
